Most people think of losing weight and getting into better physical shape as a struggle. They often think this because they likely have tried to lose weight and found it impossibly difficult. These same people have usually tried numerous diet plans, exercise programs, may have joined the local gym, have purchased videos and DVD’s and actually have good knowledge about what losing weight entails.
So, what could be the issue here? What is holding them stuck in an overweight feel-bad body? They already know the ‘how’s’ of losing weight. At its simplest, you need to burn more calories than you eat, right? And eating healthy and exercising is the healthiest way to do that, right? But what is missing here is the fact that to be successful at losing weight does not start with your body – it starts with your mind.
Your mind is the control centre for losing weight
If your mind has created for you a body that has become overweight and unhealthy (if you are overweight you ARE unhealthy) it is suddenly not going to change on its own and start thinking slim thoughts. Trying to force yourself to conform to new diet plans and exercise programs is only at best going to last for a short while.
A few days here…a few days there…certainly not the consistent and solid actions with both your food/eating and your exercise that are what is needed to not only be successful at losing weight but KEEPING IT OFF for the long haul.
You see, your overweight body is just a symptom of what is going on inside your brain…your mind-set…your inner programming. Until you get to the core of WHY you are not taking the consistent healthy actions to create the body of your dreams you will continue to struggle with the solution.
One thing is for sure though – no diet or exercise program is going to fix your overweight, unhappy body as it is only symptom of something ‘out of kilter’ on a much deeper level…your mind.
If you are done with weight gain and want to start back on a healthier path with a goal of losing weight you will need to ask yourself some serious questions. You will need to build a very clear picture in your mind of what you REALLY want, why you want it, when you want it, what you will look like, how you will feel, and how your life will be different if you achieve your goal of losing weight and also what it will be like if you DON’T.
Reprogram your mind for losing weight
Once you establish these things you can reprogram and upgrade your mind software by making the reasons and the benefits of losing weight and getting healthier so compelling you will WANT to take the life and body actions to make it happen.
And guess what? It will be easy and effortless as these reasons and benefits will make you feel WAY better than eating, eating the wrong types of foods and too much of them and avoiding exercise. Then you will be on the right path – sometimes you just have to say to yourself – enough is enough!
